    • In the Au-C60-Au context, the present work can be regarded an extension of the well-studied quantum shuttle (QS) effect into a new and promising domain, where the motion is resonance driven (rather than induced by high voltage), the conductance is in the tunneling regime, the dynamics is well outside the Coulomb blockade domain, and the contact resistance is minimized (rather than maximized) when the molecule is in the junction center. It is important to note, however, that the present mechanism is general (applying equally to other modes of motion, such as rotation, torsion, and liberation), whereas the conventional QS applies to the case of a vibrating grain.
