7. We wish to thank Dr. E. Wojtech of Bayer CropScience for this electrophysiological test result. Potential muscarinic substances were assessed by measurement of the spontaneous electrical activity of a thoracic ganglion from a lepidopteran larvae, Spodoptera littoralis, bathed in an artificial physiological medium. Muscarinic agonists produced hyperactivity of the insect ganglion which could be specifically inhibited by the muscarinic antagonist Quinuclidinylbenzylate (QNB). Muscarinic antagonists produced no hyperexitation of the insect ganglion but did inhibit hyperexitation induced by the muscarinic agonist Muscarine. The effects were dose dependent.

9. It was subsequently shown that the aldol condenation had occurred during storage of the piperidine 6 prior to its use in the library synthesis. Repeating the chemistry using freshly purified piperidine 6 yielded the desired oxime ether products with purity >85%
