Phillip Morin is the head of the Molecular Ecology Laboratory at the SWFSC, which uses molecular methods to study marine mammal populations. Aviva Nestler previously served as general biologist and manager for the SWFSC lab. She is now with Applied Biosystems as a Senior Field Applications Specialist supporting genetic analysis applications. Nadia T. Rubio-Cisneros is an MS student using genetic and biological data to study sperm whales in the Gulf of California. Kelly Roberson uses life history and genetics methods to study cetacean populations. Sarah Mesnick studies social and population structure of marine mammals and is a cofounder of the Center for Marine Biodiversity and Conservation at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
