7. The high number of geographical names has mainly two reasons: first, they wre important in order to have a high number of thesaurus entries for test purposes. Second, the entries are the result of merging the Getty Thesaurus of Geographical Names with the NUTS code of the European Community. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Getty Trust (URL: http:// www.gett.edu/) for the friendly permission not only to use the TGN within the project but also to allow the distribution of the LAURIN thesaurus to other non-commercial archives and libraries.
