Therefore, a reliable absolute calculation on a significant sample of larger and more flexible amines in the presence of solvent seems unlikely to be achieved today in our laboratory. Consequently, we have turned to the calculation of a simple quantum-mechanical descriptor of enthalpy (vide infra).
