    • The calculations were kindly performed by Professor W. C. Herndon using both a DFT/B3LYP/6-31G** (2.343 kcal/mol) and an HF 6-31G** (3.33 kcal/mol) level of theory. The latter approach is known to give a smaller error in the basis set superposition problem, thus, the overall stabilizing effect of the dipole-dipole alignment is not in doubt.
