Ophthalmology 2003, 110:1335-1339. The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of combined surgery in patients with diabetes. One of the largest series published. The use of posterior capsulectomy with phacoemulsification in combined surgery is introduced.

The eyes with clear corneal incisions had less inflammation and a decrease in posterior capsular opacity. The eyes with clear corneal incision were less likely to have endothelial dysfunction.
