3 phases: To a solution of 792.0 mg of sodium metatungstate (2.652 mmol) and 195.8 mg of MTO (0.7856 mmol) in 40 ml of water 12 ml of HCl (37%) are added with stirring. The mixture is heated to reflux for 24 h. After cooling to room temperature, the precipitate is filtered off, washed with 30 ml of diluted HCl (0.4%) (three times) and dried for two hours at 120 °C. The yield is 739.9 mg, the rhenium content being x = 0.025.
