Prior to the Medical Therapy of Prostatic Symptoms (MTOPS) study Proscar Long-term Efficacy and Safety Study (PLESS) remained the largest and longest BPH study of finsteride and showed over a 4-year period BPH progression to AUR was prevented with finasteride. Interestingly it also gave an insight into changes in prostatic growth over time in the placebo arm.
