A report of 3 cases of massive chondrolysis following shoulder arthroscopy in young patients. Whereas not directly implicated, the authors feel the use of ablative thermal energy may have been the causative factor. Other potential explanations include mechanical injury to the joint cartilage, or erosion from bioabsorbable implants.

A radiological analysis of CSRA prostheses. The analysis demonstrates the ability of the implant to restore a portion of the humeral offset that is often lost when the humeral head undergoes erosion, as in osteoarthritis. The degree to which the humeral offset was increased had a nonlinear relationship to glenohumeral motion, being optimal in the mid-range, but less favorable when the offset was not restored, or when it was increased too greatly.
