In this prospective randomized trial, the authors studied patients who underwent lobectomy and found no difference between suction and water seal, but a careful review of their paper shows that when the patients who underwent pleural tenting were eliminated from the analysis, there was an advantage for those with a seal, but it did not achieve statistical significance.
