8. m. Rather than use a full numeric simulation, we use the simplification that the plasma ends where the vacuum fields equal half the plasma central potential. This simplification is based on calculations in A. J. Peurrung and J. Fajans, Phys. Fluids B 2, 693 (1990), and has proved accurate in the past.
