A small but encouraging step in this direction was taken in the roundtable on use of archives and other primary sources for understanding U.S. foreign policy held at the annual meeting of the International Studies Association in San Diego, California, in April 1996. The panel included historians and political scientists. It was organized by Benjamin Fordham of the Center of International Studies at Princeton University.
