8. Garland AF, Lewczyk-Boxmeyer C, Gabayan EN, Hawley KM. Multiple stakeholder agreement on desired outcomes for adolescents' mental health services. Psychiatr Serv 2004; 55:671-676. Key paper highlighting that parents, young people and clinicians often have very different desired outcomes. For CAMHS this raises the issue of whose desired outcomes take priority.
9. Smith JM. Adolescent males' views on the use of mental health counselling services. Adolescence 2004; 39:77-82. Rather unusual methodology but the work with a community sample rather than a service sample is useful.
10. Street C. In-patient mental health services for young people: changing to meet new needs. J R Soc Promot Health 2004; 124:115-118. Interesting paper which clearly describes what young people want but it is let down by having no section on the methods used.
11. Shelton D. Experiences of detained young offenders in need of mental health care. J Nurs Scholarsh 2004; 36:129-133. One of the few papers to actually explore young people's experiences. Examines young people's experience of mental health services and provides some thoughts for service providers. Is probably generalizable to nonoffenders.
