Improved prediction of defibrillation success for out-of-hospital VF cardiac arrest using wavelet transform methods
-
Watson JN, Uchaipichat N, Addison PS, et al. Improved prediction of defibrillation success for out-of-hospital VF cardiac arrest using wavelet transform methods. Resuscitation 2004; 63:269-275. This analysis of wavelet transforms as a predictor of ROSC is notable for its mathematical rigor and use of training and validation sets.

Effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on predictors of ventricular fibrillation defibrillation success during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
-
Eftestøl T, Wik L, Sunde K, Steen PA. Effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on predictors of ventricular fibrillation defibrillation success during out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Circulation 2004; 110:10-15. Chest compressions can improve quantitatively the VF waveform in humans, confirming previous observations in animals. These data suggest that other interventions are worthwhile when VF waveform indicates that successful defibrillation is unlikely.
