    • In the TSFZ growth of a layered compound, the cross section of the single-crystal rod tends to be ellipsoidal in shape. In this case, the rotation of the ellipsoidal rod is often hard to keep the molten zone stable. Empirically, the rotation had better be stopped in order to grow a large-size single crystal.
