3 is negative and related to suppression of spin-dependent scattering. Only at very low temperatures positive Lorentz magnetoresistance appears.

The contribution of the substrate was subtracted based on measurements of a bare substrate. Its signal is mainly diamagnetic, being for H=5 T about 20% of the ferromagnetic signal of the 150-nm film which was measured.

A remarkable example of the dependence of MCA on the crystal symmetry is the order-of-magnitude difference in the anisotropy constants bewteen hcp and fcc Co (Ref. 26).
