7. p(k) is the amplitude of the scattered wave by the jth atom with polarization p. The first term is the intensity of the reference wave. The second term is the result of the interference between the unscattered reference and the elastically scattered waves, this term contains the holographic information. The third term is called the intensity of the object wave, i.e., the radiation scattered by all the surrounding atoms. For more details see Ref. 4.
