    • We have experimentally shown (L. Marié, Ph.D. thesis, University Paris 7, 2003) that, when using inertial stirring bladed disks at high Reynolds number, the flat outer rotating cylinder may be rotated almost without any effect but develops a thin viscous boundary layer on it. The torque exerted through this layer can generally be neglected with respect to the impeller torques.
