    • Chromene 3 derived from 1 is an epimeric mixture (1:1) at C-2. These diastereomers could not be separated from each other, even using recycled HPLC. In the NMR (500 M Hz) analysis of 3, all the proton signals were identified as a single compound. In addition, no twin signal was observed in the NMR spectrum of their MTPA diesters.

    • 3). The obtained chromene was also found to be an epimeric mixture (1:1) at C-2. Compound 3 could be considered both as a natural product and as an artifact. In the recent collections, 3 was not detected from the methanol extracts.
