    • It has been reported that the catalytic activity of 1/MAO for the isoprene polymerization is much lower than that for 1,3-butadiene or styrene (see ref. 4). In our results, however, the 1/MAO showed high polymerization activity as well as that of 1,3-butadiene or styrene polymerizations. To clarify this different phenomenon, we investigated the isoprene monomer used in the polymerization. When the isoprene monomer was distilled just before polymerization, the catalyst showed high polymerization activity and a satisfactory reappearance. On the other hand, when the isoprene monomer was stored for 2 or 3 days at room temperature after distillation, the polymerization activity was appeared to be decreasing gradually.
