Mono-L-aspartyl chlorin e6 (N-aspartyl chlorin e6) used in references 2-23 was synthesized ; essentially by the method of Bommer and Burnham, and is commonly abbreviated to NPe6 or MACE. Mono-L-aspartyl chlorin e6 is chemically pure compound and has been provided from Porphyrin Products, Inc., Beckloff Associates, Inc., (USA), Nippon Petrochemical Co. and Meiji Seika Kaisha, Ltd. (Japan).
