    • During 1996, we analyzed the lysimeter water samples for dissolved organic nitrogen (DON). We found very low levels of DON in lysimeters from all treatments with no clear treatment differences. DON was estimated as the difference between total dissolved nitrogen (TDN) and dissolved inorganic nitrogen, where TDN was measured by high-temperature platinum-catalyed combustion (23).
