We use a cylindrical coordinate system where θ is the polar angle to the proton beam from the event vertex, φ is the azimuthal angle about the beam axis, and pseudorapidity is defined η= -lntan(θ/2). We define transverse energy as ET = Esinθ and transverse momentum as pT = p sinθ where E is energy measured in the calorimeter and p is momentum measured by the spectrometer. Missing transverse energy, Slashed E signT, is -|∑iETini|, where ni is the unit vector in the azimuthal plane that points from the beamline to the ith calorimeter tower.
