16. 3 was added, and aged over 20 min at rt. Mixture was filtered (quant assay = 98% yield), and concentrated. The resulting oily material was treated with excess concd HCl and aged at 60°C over 2 h. The resulting slurry was cooled to rt, seeded, and aged at rt overnight. 1.44 g of 2 was collected as an off white solid after filtration. 90% Isolated yield and 99A% by HPLC.
