13 it was reported that trans-3a was obtained quantitatively from O-pentafluorobenzoyloxime 2a after the purification with Merck silica gel 60N. However, this result was not reproducible. Other than the desired trans-3a (77%), as shown below, ketone (2%) and dihydroindole (ca. 5%) whose stereochemistry was not determined were detected as byproducts (Fig. 4). (diagram presented)
