F(x′). For harmonic emission in the direction of the driving laser field, the integration over x can be carried out exactly. This yields the relativistic analogue of the zero-range-potential approach [7]. It does contain the so-called continuum-continuum (c-c) term [6] while the form (7) does not. The c-c term is small in the nonrelativistic regime [cf. W. Becker et al., Phys. Rev. A 56, 645 (1997)], but this may not be so in the strongly relativistic case.

This may be shown by solving the classical Hamilton-Jacobi equation for the principal Hamilton function; see Appendix C of L. S. Brown and T. W. B. Kibble, Phys. Rev. 133, A705 (1964); or J. H.
