It is interesting to note that the reaction of (-)-2-butanol with triphenylphosphine and hexachloroacetone gave essentially raceme 2-chlorobutane. This reagent converts 3-buten-2-ol to 3-chloro-l-butene with complete inversion of configuration (Magid, R. M.; Fuchey, O. S.; Allen, T. G. J. Org. Chem. 1979, 46, 359).
