    • The absorbed optical energy would normally warm the lattice by only ∼5 K. However, on these short time scales, the phonon distributions are likely to be strongly athermal with high occupation factors in the modes which are actually coupled to the ISBT's. We estimate that the mean effective phonon dephasing temperature rises by up to ∼150 K, making the appearance of the sharp features in Fig. 5 all the more remarkable.
