19. In 1932, E. P. Wigner and L. Szilard [17] introduced this Fourier transform to make the transition from quantum mechanics in configuration space (Schrödinger equation) to its representation in phase space. L. S. F. Olavo [18] in turn had the idea of using such transform to define a quantization method (the classical → quantum transition) of isolated systems. In Refs. [1,15,19] we extended this idea to quantize open systems.
