    • The combined Hartree-Fock and Koopmans approximation provides the best one-particle theory to describe the ionization, since many-body corrections to the ionization energies and to the transition amplitudes begin to contribute at a higher order of perturbation theory than with other choices of approximations [A. Szabo and N. S. Ostlund, Modern Quantum Chemistry (McGraw-Hill, New York, 1989)]. Consequently, the initial hole is described favorably by a Hartree-Fock orbital.
