    • This statement refers to increasing excitation powers (lower to upper branch). When probing the dynamics with decreasing excitation powers (upper to lower branch) the response of the system is substantially slower, apparently due to the heat capacity of the material. When the sample is poised on the upper branch, the excitation beam may be chopped with millisecond dark periods without the system dropping to the lower branch (data not shown).
