    • STM data report -0.44 eV for Cu(111). Using this value in our calculation the line shape changes slightly being still consistent with line shapes observed on Cu(111).

    • In our previous work [10] a strong dependence of line shapes with bulk parameters (no surface states included) was found when no gap is present. Here we find that the opening of a gap leads to surface states which play a major role even for Ag(111) as suppressing their contribution by, say, a factor of 2, leads to relatively small changes in the line shapes (as observed in Ref. [24]).
