Vilenkin in his first paper on quantum cosmology 3047 used the standard Wick rotation for Euclideanization of the Lorentzian path integral of the wave function, so that the probability density in his proposal gave the same sign of the exponent as the no-boundary proposal. But later he realized 46 that it did not correspond to the picture of “tunneling from nothing” which he had in mind from the beginning.
