9. Lffigevagten is a formalized cooperation between GPs in the local area for emergency medical services. It provides medical assistance and eventually hospital referral outside the normal working hours when a patient cannot visit the doctor’s practice (evenings, nights, and weekends). Since this service provides GPs with the opportunity for additional income, some may sign up for more time of service under this system, while others may choose to do less.
