    • We have checked that this is consistent with our treatment of quasiparticle tunneling if the ratio Rn/Rqp would be as low as 10−11, which is extraordinarily small, but on the other hand much larger than formula (21) predicts for the experimental parameters. Still, our tentative mechanism leaves the e-periodicity of the supercurrent is a puzzle.

    • The pronounced ridge in the I–V landscape for V>2e/CΣ and q0=0 is contained in formula (18) as the degenerate case (p=0, q=±4, qi=∓2), and corresponds to the second order resonance involving the states |−2 e, 0> and |2 e, 0>. This transition in itself does not transport any current, but in influences the equilibrium populations in such a way as to have a net effect
