A retrospective reviewed of 53 TKAs in 38 hemophilic patients; 40 TKAs were in HIV-positive patients. Infection developed in 10% of HIV-positive (4/40) patients and 25% of HIV-negative (3/12) patients.

A retrospective study of 15 HIV-positive patients with 13 TKA and 8 THA. Deep infections developed in 6 of 21 joints (28.6%), and 4 joints underwent revision for aseptic loosening at an average of 9.25 years.
