The SAMs were formed by soaking the substrates in 0.1 M ethanolic solutions of 11-mercaptodecanoic acid for 4 h. These were dried under nitrogen. The monolayer of Mn-12 was formed by soaking the SAMs substrate in a 1 mM solution of Mn-12 in ethanol for 15 min.
