Floseal and Merogel were observed to incorporate into the regenerated mucosa.

Prospective randomized study comparing two methods of topical packing revealing superiority of Gelfoam to FloSeal. Blinded analysis demonstrated that granulation tissue and adhesions were increased in the latter group.

Prospective study of 100 patients that compared Gelfilm to Merogel. Findings revealed slight superiority of the latter with regard to adhesion formation. However, the cavities were not scored in a blinded manner, and the results may not apply to more aggressive forms of ESS.

Randomized, prospective, multi-institutional study in which one cavity received Merogel and the other Merocel followed by cavity evaluation 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks postoperatively. After rigorous statistical analysis, essentially no differences in mucosal healing were observed between the groups.
