note
-
In Ref. 17 a similar smooth landscape was considered as due to out-of-plane quenched disorder. The consequences in the LDOS of the enhanced forward scattering were investigated, and the occurrence of a broad peak at small momenta was found in agreement with our findings (see Sec. III A).

note
-
Although the doping inhomogeneities entail a distribution of the chemical potential, this has minor effects on the zeroth-order local DOS. In particular, assuming a linear band dispersion around the nodes, as in the following simplified approach, the variations of the chemical potential do not affect the linear energy dependence of the DOS.

To render the following expressions simpler we neglected the periodic character of the momentum dependence, but we explicitly considered it in the actual numerical calculations.
