    • Cycloaddition crosslinking of bis(1,3-diene) LC monomers is believed to occur via the [4 + 2] reaction of one 1,3-diene unit with a single olefin moiety of an adjacent diene unit, leaving an unused olefin group available for further [4 + 2] reaction with other adjacent 1,3-dienes. The cyclic mono-olefin formed in the reaction may also undergo a [4 + 2] reaction with adjacent diene units. See references [10] and [12].
