6. All chemicals were commercial reagent grade and were used without further purification. Melting points were taken on a Thomas-Hoover capillary melting point apparatus and are corrected. I.R. spectra were determined with a Beckmann IR-5A spectrophotometer. The 60-MHz N.M.R. spectra were obtained using a Varian A-60 spectrometer with tctramethyl- silane as internal standard.
