The term "aggregate" is used in the sense of DIN 53206 for a collection of primary particles that have tightly intergrown together. "Agglomerates," in contrast, are only loose combinations of aggregates and/or primary particles. The terms aggregate and agglomerate are used in the reverse sense in English-speaking countries.
