    • ANTHOCYANIN1 of petunia controls pigment synthesis, vacuolar pH, and seed coat development by genetically distinct mechanisms
    • This study identifies new roles for AN1, a transcriptional activator of anthocyanin biosynthesis in petunia. In particular, the authors demonstrate that AN1 also controls vacuolar pH (it is allelic to PH6) and seed coat morphogenesis. The study illustrates the diversity of cellular functions that may be affected by a transcription factor that controls a metabolic pathway.
