    • The as-synthesized BMS particles were dispersed in Milli-Q water with a concentration of ca. 0.5 wt %. Next, 80 mL of the BMS sphere suspension was pipetted into a test tube of diameter 2 cm and length 20 cm. The tube was placed vertically in a rack and left for ca. 10 min to allow the larger particles to sediment. The suspension above the sedimented particles was then recovered and placed in a new tube. These separation steps were repeated five times.
