note
-
34 of the world's 48 least-developed countries are in Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa is infested with conflict which has left many of the countries in economic and social stagnation. The HIV/AIDS problem has also reversed years of development in fighting diseases and improving the life chances of the African population. Moreover, the mortality rate of African children is extremely high, and only half of them will complete primary education.
