Jeff Merron states that, after the 1929 stock market crash, many JWT offices abroad closed, even if'In 1932, at the depths of the depression, JWT overseas operations still managed to show a modest profit' (Merron, 'Putting Foreign Consumers on the Map', pp.469-70). He also maintains that Antwerp was among the closing offices. In fact, the Antwerp office did not close, though it was transferred to Brussels duringthe war. Actually J.
