Ann Rheum Dis 2002, 61:335-340. Examines the rate and risk factors for work disability among a relatively large inception cohort of 732 patients with disease duration of less than 2 years at study entry. Although the range of potential risk factors described was limited, the factors studied suggest that permanent work disability can be anticipated by severity of RA, age at onset, manual work, and less favorable socioeconomic background.
