    • Earlier investigations of the thermal conductivity of superlattices have studied structures with larger repeat distances (T. Yao, Appl. Phys. Lett. 51 (1987) 1798; G. Chen, C.L. Tien, X. Wu and J.S. Smith, J. Heat Transfer 116 (1994) 325). When the layer thickness is comparable to, or greater than. the phonon mean free path, the thermal conductivity can be calculated from the conductivities of the two components and the Kapitza conductance at the interfaces.
