    • Actually, because of electron repulsion between the lone pairs of the fluorine and oxygen atoms, the water molecule does not freely rotate about the axis of the H - O-H hydrogen bond. The two hydroxyl hydrogens experience a simultaneous inversion in the course of its internal rotation motion.
